  1. Fall is a great time to plant trees. So is spring.
  2. You summed it up nicely: Husbands are predictable but weird. LOL
  3. Good luck with all these changes. I hope your husband's health gets back to a normal level. If you have a smart phone, check out the Lose It app. They have nutritional info on whole foods, including fruit, glass of milk, etc., as well as brand names. If you don't have a smart phone, you should be able to add it to your computer.
  4. Remember the lessons of "The Christmas Carol." Counting our money is all well and good, but don't forget to use some of it to live and enjoy your life. We had a friend die recently and another diagnosed with cancer. Neither had gotten to enjoy retirement yet. Yes, keep on working on getting out of debt and putting money away for your golden years. But there is more to life. None of us knows how much time we have on this planet. So don't let the years go by without taking some time for vacations and going out for dinner once in awhile, or whatever else might make you happy.
  5. Gelly, I must have the post about you no longer being pregnant. I am so sorry. Have you consulted with a fertility doctor? Or do you want to wait until things are more stable at home?
  6. What a scare you had with the carbon monoxide. I'm glad that you were able to figure it out while you still had a chance. Phew! So happy that's fixed. I would love to see you and the six kids show up in court and have anyone try to rule against this jerk not giving you the money he owes you.
  7. Now I need to use my handheld vac to clean up the stray frozen peas at the bottom of the freezer.
  8. Since I weigh about 50 pounds more than when I got married, my goal is to lose about 35-40 pounds. I won't ever be the hottie I was in my 20s, but I could look a bit better and develop more physical stamina. The number I really want to decrease is my cholesterol number. :-) One easy decision was to give up a glass of wine on weeknights and to save that for the weekends only. Or at least follow that plan most weeks. I've started making tea fairly often. So enjoying the various teas I have on hand will be a nice alternative treat. I'm getting addicted to a Cinnamon Hot Spiced tea that I bou
  9. But I will also look in our freezer and make plans to use up whatever we have in there.
  10. I'm going to clean out my baking cupboard today. But rather than use them up, I'm going to throw out all the cookie decorating sugars and sprinkles, the mini marshmellows, and other items that don't square with my new healthy-eating choices plan for this year. This morning I weigh exactly what I weighed on January 1st last year. So what I've been doing the last 12 months obviously made no difference. But it's a new day in a new year. Time to begin again.
  11. Mom, I think you're correct regarding fish and milk. My husband will "marinate" or soak the fish in a bowl of milk in the fridge the day that he plans to make it for dinner.
  12. I am so sorry for all you are going through.

    2016 Budget

It looks pretty good to me.

    2016 Goals

Carrie, your sewing through your fabric stash reminds me of my goal of reading through my book stash.
  15. Oh my God. I am so sorry and cannot even begin to imagine the pain he was in and that his family has to now live with. Will say a prayer for them all.
  16. Congrats. Having a will done is a major step. I keep all my online passwords (except for our retirement accounts) in a small spiral-bound notebook. It normally sits next to my computer but is small enough to fit in my purse when I travel. That way I can log on to the airline to check in for my return flight, check my usual websites, etc.
  17. "Never get better" is a relative term. I used to have the feeling of an ice pick stabbing my thoracic vertebrae. An MRI revealed some disk problems, degeneration and "remodeling" I think. Today I rarely have any pain. What helped me was 1) sleeping on memory foam for the right support, 2) Pilates class, 3) an occupational therapy session that taught me how to do various household and gardening tasks differently. BTW, the Pilates helped me regain 1/2" of the 1-1/2" in height I'd lost since college. There are probably a number of things you can do to help ease your pain. Will your body be like y
  18. Great decision. The new apartment sounds like a wonderful place for this transition phase of your life. Good luck with the move.
  19. You haven't seen your hubby in how many months? Get off the Internet and focus on each other. I am NOT kidding.
  20. I am so sorry. That does suck. I'm sure you would have preferred to have all this behind you before the holidays and to start the new year with a clean slate. Hang in there.

    We got a van!

The van is a good first step and means you shouldn't have to pay anyone to move your stuff. Good thinking. When you have a chance, you can update us on your timetable for moving.
