Picking a new house *sigh*
My husband REALLY wants to move. I have been putting him off for the last few months because we had a new baby and I was not up for all the painting, cleaning, unpacking, etc. He however REALLY wants to move (Have I mentioned he REALLY wants to move?!). I talked him out of buying a house because it is so out of our abilities it isn't even funny. He wanted to move to a new rental last fall and I convinced him to wait till he sewed on his new rank and got his housing allotment raised. There however is no stopping him now. Especially if I want him to change our legal home of residence to NJ (so that our autistic kids will qualify for more services and support). So here we go.......blah.....
Our first choice is to petition the military housing we currently live in to allow us to move from our 1,600 sq ft 4 bedroom to their 2,200 sq ft 4 bedroom. It is within our rank but they don't allow moving between housing unless you get a promotion to senior housing (which is still 2yrs away at least for us). My husband is writing a letter, getting it signed by his command, and giving it to the property manager. The property manager would have to approve it to let us move to the bigger house within our current subdivision. He should get the letter in to them this week. He is seriously motivated and just waiting on his command to sign.
If that is not approved and we hit a rock wall there we are looking at off base housing that stays in our kids current school district, under our housing allowance amount, and meets our requirements. I found a 200 yr old farm house with 4 bedrooms and 2,000 sq ft on an active farm. I would LOVE to live here. Would be like going home (I was raised in my great grandfathers house in the middle of the family farm run by my grandfather). There are a few other options but they are a little to "city" for my liking.
Prayers that what is meant to be will be and that the Lord will put us where we need to be (even if that is to stay in our current house) would be appreciated.
