7 more days

7 more work days (including today) and I will be done working.

Paid June bills today and freaked a little....but then realized that the June budget is fully funded, including a small vacation for us and the kiddos. Sinking funds refilled and I paid for our dog's $350 vet visit that we weren't expecting. I do have a pet category, but I think I need to build it up like a sinking fund because normally I only put enough in there for food and grooming. Vet visits are going to happen occasionally. But, I can take my time a little on that.

We've still been sending the full BS6 snowball, because we want to do that as long as we can, in case we can't do it anymore next year. It feels good to know that we could drop that back to minimums if needed.

Selling one of the houses: No offers, even after an open house and dropping the price. Lots of questions, seemingly some interest, but no offers. It costs us $800 per month to hold this house empty. I know it will sell, but I am not a patient person. Ugh.

Still may buy the house we are trying to buy. Our lender backed out because one of the rooms wasn't permitted. The owner says he will permit it and will give us an extension to get new lending. We will see.

I have been elected president of the PTO at the kids' middle school for next year.....don't bother congratulating me, I ran unopposed. And by that, I mean they begged me to do it, lol. So that's how I'll be spending a good bit of my time. I'm excited to actually be able to help.

The kids' activities and my husband's travel schedule are running me ragged. He's been gone probably close to half of April and May. Scouts ends for the year tonight (the twins), but my oldest starts cross country training this week for the fall season. It never ends! We continue to use the google calendar and it is working GREAT! It synchs perfectly with our phones and we have it everywhere. Thanks to whoever made that suggestion.

Off to make a grocery list to finish out the month.....

How delightful it will be for you to find a new "normal", filled with things that bring you joy and fulfillment.  I look forward to reading all about the "life after". :)

Oh my sounds busy! I am sure you will be just as busy "not working"

I use google calendar for our meals too, at least when I actually buckle down and do it.

Did you get any feedback on house you are trying to sell? Do you have a listing you want to share?

The feedback we have gotten so far is that the yard is small and the house is only 4 houses in from the main road.  Neither of which we can change, obviously.

Also the floors are bad, which is why we added a $2500 flooring allowance.

So funny!  I work in a middle school and we beg parents to get involved.  Our PTA is non-existent except for a fall fundraiser.  I hate those catalog sales!  Congrats on being President and good luck ;)

So close to the end of that phase of your life!  Then on to the next (better) phase :)

I agree that you should slowly start building a vet sinking fund.

Well after the comedy of errors that is happening this afternoon/evening with dh getting home later than expected, cub scouts starting earlier than expected, and other stuff he is SO ready for me to be home. I could have had the shopping done and all of us fed, instead we will be eating close to 9pm tonight if we are lucky. He was like "I can't believe we did this for this long! It's time!"

I predict you'll be just as busy, but way less stressed & happier with your new arrangement. I'm excited for you!

It sounds like you will be busy as ever but doing the things that matter and are important to you and your family!! Good for you on this new venture.

I was able to work part time while my girls were in the school age years and it was a great experience for all of us. I got to be a part of many of their experiences that I would have otherwise missed.

We just had a $300 vet appointment, we will get $30 back in rebates for some of the meds(flea, tick and heart worm). I had budgeted for it, but now that our fur baby is a senior dog, they are recommending a senior wellness exam that will cost another $242!!!! It is a more in depth exam and blood work that would give a base line for things like kidney function and other things. Still debating if we will do this. Her regular wellness exam came back with all gold stars.

You have a good handle on everything and seem to be going into this with your eyes wide open!!!

We still have to get the dog her shots, they wouldn't give them to her since she had a bladder infection.  That $350 was just antibiotics for the infection, office visit, and tick meds/treatment.  She got into some ticks when we went camping.  She is fine now, but we still have to budget shots!

Do you have a Petco in your area?  Some of them offer in-store shots on certain days (administered by a vet) at a greatly reduced price.

Re shots: I think you mentioned you live in Florida so this might help. I live in Pinellas County(Tampa Bay region), and they are always advertising low cost shots at the various Walgreens. I think it's a mobile pet truck that goes around. I don't know if they do it in your neck of the woods, but I've seen the signs in the counties that abut mine.

Yes we are going the mobile pet truck route for sure! Our vet is acting like we are horrible abusive doggy owners but they want $250 for the same shots I can get for $50. Anyone can give shots, I will go to the vet when we need a diagnosis.

We vaccinate from kv pet supply or dr foster and smith. Rabies is done at vet, we did lyme there as well as it wasn't economical to do at home, though our dog had a reaction to the lyme vaccine so we don't do that anymore.

I just got home from my last day of work. :)

I have not given notice, but will in a few weeks probably. I need some time to write the perfect resignation letter and honestly I had way too much work over the last few weeks to concentrate on that. I have been bringing home a box of stuff daily for the past few weeks and as far as I know, no one noticed. So, I already have all my things. Of course, that also means that my home office looks like a bomb went off, so I'll need to spend some time in there soon.

I had a lot of mixed feelings. I really, REALLY love working with teenagers, especially freshmen, I really bond with that age level. However, I know this is right for our family and I can still sub. Today was emotional. I was up half the night last night. I still have 2nd thoughts from time to time. But that's probably to be expected. Our kids are so excited. My husband has been looking forward to this for awhile.

Tonight we are swimming and having taco night with the boys to kick off our summer.

Our summers are always insane due to the ex's and vacations and camps and such, so I won't get a real taste of what it will be like until August!

Got notice today that both of our middle schoolers got into the gifted STEM program and they have a ton of summer assignments so after a few days to decompress I'll be overseeing all of that and scheduling all the dr. appointments we put off!

Your feelings are totally to be expected. I sounds like you will be busy as can be with your new role at home right out of the gate! Congrats on the boys accomplishment!

Remember, you can always go back! Subbing will let you keep your hand in teaching. Your family is first and you are honoring them. Glad you are able to even think about making this choice. Congratulations on your kiddos, you are going to be busy, busy, busy! You will look forward to September just to get some rest!
