We dropped cable!

I can't believe I finally convinced my DH to drop cable. We have to give 30 days notice so we still have it until Nov 6 but then it is done. $86/month back into the budget. Yay! I had enough amazon.com gift cards to buy a Roku so that should be here soon and I think we will get Netflix and be done. We hardly watch it anyways. We used to have it included in our tenant's rental agreement but he moves out at the end of the month so we've changed it for the new tenant that cable isn't included.

Bad timing to be a landlord

We have a suite in our home that we rent out. We live in a two story and have an office, laundry room, entrance way and garage on the main floor, along with a one bedroom suite, then the living areas and bedrooms are all upstairs. Our tenant just gave notice and will be out Oct 31. It is just the last straw for me in a rough few weeks. It's just been a hard year overall with work issues (mostly for DH), illness in the family, we have a close family friend who will die in the next few months from

Heading out of town on business

So I'm off to Toronto tomorrow on business. I am attending a seminar and conference on bookkeeping (so exciting, I know - lol!). I'm looking forward to it but am so not looking forward to being away from my kids. I'll be gone six days total! We are going to Skype to keep in touch but I know I'll miss them like crazy. I've never left them like this before. It is so much work for me to leave, too. You should see the schedule and notes I've had to leave DH. Fortunately our families are stepping in

Plugging Along

Just thought I would update what's been going on here. There hasn't been much forward progress on anything lately.   WORK:   DH is having real struggles with his (well "our", but he does the day to day running of it) company. He has been down his lead guy due to injury since June (due back sometime in October) and had to fire another guy due to attitude and pure incompetence the day we returned from camping at the beginning of this month. He worked to 11pm that night to pick up the slack and

Moving forward

So as of right now we are back to planning on selling the house in the Spring of 2014. Our neighbours just put their house for sale so we are watching closely to see how that goes.   We do have a few things we need to do just for general maintenance:   - Pressure wash the house and deck - Stain the deck - Replace fascia board on front of house   We found a couple of holes in two pieces of fascia right at the front of the house so we went today and bought the new pieces. Well Scratch that...

After much more conversation and prayerful meditation we have decided not to sell. Some "stuff" has come up and I'm just wrapping my head around dealing with it. Not health wise thank goodness, just financial and company/business issues. I'll share soon but I'm just mentally and emotionally spent with trying to figure it out now.   Life never stands still that's for sure.

It looks like we are selling our house!

I think I've said my name before, but I don't think many know it. So, I'm Natalie :-)   We have been in our current house for over 6 years. I hate it. We've renovated it, it's beautiful, but it's on a postage stamp size lot on a busy street and we just can't see raising the kids here.
