And so it begins....time to start shopping :D

Well we all knew that losing weight wasn't going to be cheap I am at 39lbs down and my pants are now falling off of me. I started at a 20 and am down to a 16 now Trouble is I went through my stash up in the attic and I only own 1 pair of 16 pants. I have lots of size 16 shorts (thanks to 4 years in Hawaii) but only the one pair of pants. Since it is getting COLD here I need more pants Nice problem to have I guess.   I am planning on going to the Airman's Attic and seeing if I can get a pai

All your fault...so give me your opinions ;)

You all have been nudging me to find myself so this is all your fault I want highlights, but can't decide on the color. I have short (you all are to "blame" for that as well ) dark brown hair.....   I can't decide on Hot pink, neon blue, or lavender purple   Yes I am serious.   I am getting back in touch with myself and doing what *I* want instead of what is expected of me.   I think purple would be less jarring and probably work the best in daily life. But the hot pink would be so c

Good thing we went on vacation....

cause my son's therapy is taking over our lives. I am talking every hour he has to have sensory input. Which means every hour I have to stop what I am doing and do his program. Plus the three hours of therapy with behavioral and occupational therapists a week.   Overwhelmed is an understatement of my life at the moment.   I am having trouble remembering all of it. I mean in the middle of a violent fit isn't the time to be learning new things but that is what I am doing. Trying to remember is

The benefits of complaining.

Just had to update on the hotel hell situation. I emailed the corporate Extended Stay hotel on Saturday listing my experience with their Mobile hotel and asking for a refund on my entire stay. This morning I logged on to my bank account to find that they had refunded me $854.56 exactly what we paid. I am now at least not livid with the hotel chain anymore and instead just livid with that particular hotel. Hey we might even use the certificate we have for a free stay at some point.   My hubby

More hotel drama *sigh*

Know how I was complaining about the hotel we booked into here? Well it got so much worse. It started on Monday with men down in the parking lot drinking. Now I am not a prude or anything I understand that some people drink. However when you sit in a hotel parking lot at 3pm drinking liquor out of a brown paper bag I have an issue. It continued well into the night with several men out there carrying on and listening to music on their radios. Then the prostitutes showed up. I really really REALLY

Roadtrip ~Halfway point

Thought I would do the halfway point numbers as well...   Total budgeted for entire trip: $5,000 Total at halfway mark: $796.79   It is all downhill from this point. We have spent more than that in the last two days on leg 3. One night in a hotel between leg 2 and leg 3 cost us $250! I knew going in that leg 3 was going to kill us financially but it was important to my husband to see his family for the first time in 4 years so I am trying to take it all in stride. Last nights $70 bill to

Feeling thankful and other updates from our trip.

I think I have mentioned that I am from a very very small town in the middle of the Appalachian foothills. I am home visiting my family, who for the area are "well off" (meaning normal middle class anywhere else). Coming back here always makes me so sad and so thankful at the same time. The only thing produced in this town is tobacco and meth. Tobacco is back breaking labor for no money and meth...well you know the effects of meth. Seeing others struggling is hard. We are talking homes with no

Son's therapy update

Just thought I would update on how our therapy meeting went today.   They are recommending 2 hours a week of behavioral therapy and 1 hour a week of Occupational therapy a week. That is quite a bit more than the 1 hour of therapy my oldest daughter needed at this age.   Couple odds and ends. They feel that he would benefit from an indoor swing, something that holds him tight. I know from experience he has to be control of the motion or he will stroke out. So I have been doing some research

Busy week

Lets see...   This week we have:   little bit's 6 month doctor visit 2 meetings with the early intervention people to schedule my son's therapy Little man's hearing test (yeah THAT is going to go well) Then we leave on Thursday morning for our road trip. So there is all the packing and cleaning to go with that.   I feel like sticking my fingers in my ears and singing "I don't wanna, I don't wanna, I don't wanna" over and over again.

Update on Son

Early intervention went as expected. He is behind in several categories of development (communication, adaptive, and social) and has several red flags for autism. He will begin therapy when we get home from our vacation in September.   He sees an audiologist on the 31st to rule out any hearing problems (I am positive that will be normal).   Also waiting on the appointment for the developmental pediatrician. I have to mail all the forms to them and then they will set an appointment. They wer

Late onset ADD ;)

I swear I have late onset ADD Every project I start always leads to about 5 more before I am done.   Good news is the attic is almost finished I have one small box left up there to go through then I am done Today we brought down 4 LARGE boxes, one of which was still packed from the movers 2 yrs ago! Out of those 4 boxes we kept one box, had 2 bags of trash, and the rest went into the yard sale pile.   Bad news is I now have multiple projects to do: *Memory quilt/wall hanging for my husba

Another newsy update

Another newsy update for you all   -dh is feeling much better after a week of antibiotics. The swelling and constant pain is gone and he is back to work He is still tender but it is a.massive improvement.   -dh's promotion seems to be a go. We are still waiting on official word but he found everything he needed to prove he did in fact have the decoration. He isn't worried about it at all now. He worked and studied for five years to get this promotion and he will go down kicking and screami

Grumble grumble grumble

I think we are jinixed I really do. Life is just handing us lemons at the moment.   I told you dh was having complications from his vasectomy....well it is to the point he is on antibiotics, has a large hematoma, and needs an ultrasound to find the source of his constant pain on that side. He has to be put on a medical profile with work because he can't do his job anymore. Just a big giant mess. If he gets medically discharged over a vasectomy I am going to be seriously ticked off. His thera

Autism strikes again.

Brent's doctor's appointment went as expected this morning. The doctor strongly suspects that Brent is somewhere on the autism spectrum. Referral is in for the developmental pediatrician and we are making the calls to early intervention to start therapy. We will not have an official diagnosis for some time. Even though I knew that something was "wrong" it still hurts my mama's heart to hear it confirmed. He is our second child with autism

Exhausted

I am just so tired. My husband had his surgery yesterday morning and is having some complications....ever try and support/catch a 200lb unconscious man? Not easy. Ekg, xrays, and blood work show his heart is fine. He is taking it easy and trying to rest. Dealing with lots of swelling and bruising right now along with the pain and passing out.   My dad is in town which is a double edged sword. He is here to help with the kids if I need him but there is also all the excitement of having him here

Coupon binders and sales :)

I am so terrible about not having time to go through and check the sales, find the coupons, and clip the electronic coupons. It just seems like such a pain. I however got my act together this week and have been working on it   I got my coupon binder back out and cleaned out. Got tons of inserts from the commissary (we get special "military coupons" that they give out by the box full!). Got everything clipped and in the binder.   Pulled up the sales on the commissary website and matched the

Today's update :)

Today has been a busy day here   Went thrift store shopping this morning...and found the outfit for little bit for our photo shoot ($1 ). It is an 18mth top but will fit her like a dress and work perfectly. It was hanging right on the end of the rack and just jumped out at me. I snatched it off that rack so fast I am surprised the rack didn't fall over   Also found swim suits for the three youngest girls today! I actually got 4 suits because I was not sure if my smallest twin would fit a

Little blessings

It just seems that the last few days have been filled with little blessings   I mentioned the free photo shoots already   Also I got a message on Facebook that the Airman's attic was having "take as much as you can carry" days leading up to their move to their new location. Now if you are gonna BEG and everything is FREE well yes I think I will   I got:   9yr old daughter: Two tops   6yr old daughter: Two dresses   3yr old twin daughters: Three

Getting Family Portraits :)

So right after my youngest daughter was born my mother and my grandfather paid for us to get some family portraits done. I contacted the military spouse who did our last pictures (which I loved). She wanted to do some newborn shots with her props to add to her portfolio and offered to do both a newborn and a family shoot on the same day for a reduced rate. We agreed and took little bit over two hours before the rest of the kids. Of course she got tons of pictures of the baby in all these props f

Grocery Ramblings

So as you ALL know my grocery budget is snug this month. However we were able to make cuts and move stuff around and now have $610 for this months groceries. We also got WIC yesterday which will help a ton (going to the store with my WIC stuff this afternoon when my husband gets home from his class).   So far our YNAB shows that we have spent $424 this month (I still have $80 of that in cash in my envelope).   Last Saturday I was able to get a weeks groceries for $67.38 Most of that was just

I quit

I have spent the last week stressing out about the budget, worrying that it won't stretch, trying to find ways to make this better, etc.   I have talked to my husband till I am blue in the face about all this.   Woke up this morning and didn't even make it to the bathroom before he confessed to "screwing up last night". I won't even know the extent of the damage for a day or so till everything clears. So that $60 in the bank till pay day you can guarantee is pretty much gone.   Why do I ev
