7-12-2012; Here we go again

Well I'm back again after falling off the wagon for the who knows manyth time. But at least, I'm back. Thus far I have been a lot more proactive and have set some serious goals for the month at least.   So far, I have written up July's budget. I just received my 1st pay check for the month so this is pretty good timing.   Current I'm aggressively cutting any expense I can get to easily. This is the first run through so expect more in the future.   I have cut my cable, phone and intern

Wow

I just went logged on to my bank account to check my balance; and noticed that I got paid about 100$ more then I get on average; and knowing that I had two days off instead of my usual one I decided to check my pay stub.   25 normal hours this week (normally between 17-23); Twice that week I was asked if I could work longer then scheduled   5.5 Sunday hours; (normally between 4-7 hours) Time and half on Sunday.   6 hours holiday pay; (I forgot I get holiday pay)   and it makes me feel a

So far so good.

It's been 11 days since I started my budget, and I'm still on budget; which actually surprises me. I didn't think I would last this long. While I do get payed weekly, I think I prefer budgeting per month and only giving myself half on the 1; and the other half on the 15th.   For gas, I didn't need to put any in untill a few days ago, so I should be good for a little bit; and I'll have more gas money on the 15th.   For food I have about 27 left. I would have more; but after a few days of not

Summer

I suppose I can do one entry per season and stay pretty up-to-date! *laugh* Things aren't the same in BS4, 5, and 6 as they were in BS2 where there was always something to report!   Along those lines, though, things have been going well. I've been contributing enough to get the max company match in my 401K at work and working on the Roths for me and for DH on our own. I should probably be working harder on that, but I contribute pretty regularly. I have a feeling that I'll be putting in t

Goals, all changed up.

1) Finish saving up for the back porch. We have $3,600 so far. $3,600 needed, so done!   2) Pay down the HEL like crazy! This is at $15,032. And officially on minimum payments until the FFEF is full again. So maybe extra payments again in December.   3) Continue getting good grades without stressing myself out. I seem to have found the stress again. 1.5 weeks until the current class is done, I'd be thrilled with a B at this point. It's not that I don't understand the material q

Update

I'm doing okay with the budget so far. Grocery: July 1st: I got out of work at 10, and knew I wanted a snack so 1.95 for a box of microwave popcorn. (While I do have popcorn kernels and butter at home, at 10 all I wanted was something fast to eat, and then I wanted to go to bed. Also 20 cents for a banana on break.   July 2nd. My plan for the day was just going to be a banana on break was schedule 10-4, but then was asked to work late, which meant getting a lunch. 2.84 on the makings for a s

Dinner.

While my budget doesn't start until Sunday, I've been trying to not spend very little; today:   Muffin on my break at work 1.25 I used to get three or four candy bars everyday, but I've been good this week so far, only getting on bannana on my breaks (Around 20-30 cents each), so I did splurge a little today.   After work I picked up pizza sauce and cheese (3.83) for a pizza craving. I wanted to get the really good store Italian bread to go with it. but realized that I have a bunch of englis

Update Start

I'm looking forward to trying to stick to a budget again. I plan on starting on July 1st, and for the next few days I plan on just trying to live on what I have in my wallet (17 dollars and some change 7 know that I put 10 dollars into the gas tank after starting to write this). I think I'll be able to as its only a few days more, although it will be cutting it close.   Since in the past I've started with a strict budget an have not been able to keep to it. I'm going to go with a more generous

The week officially starts in 2 days and the discussion question initial answers are due on Friday, but I'll still start reading tomorrow.   Week 5 has 5 chapters! Yikes! Then week 6 has 2 again, but that week is only 3 days long. I'm more than halfway done, yay!

Making progress.........FINALLY!

I am so excited! After only paying minimums on our debts since Dec of 2010, we are finally, thankfully, going to start getting somewhere.   Granted our first order of business is now to pay down on the new house that we bought so we can get out of the PMI as quickly as we can. But I am confident that we can get out of that in a year (or less if we get it rented). I am determined because after that it is on to our SLs. That is something that I cannot wait for.   I borrowed $527 for a gara

Crazy month!

There are just so many categories of crazy going on over at the Zaga household!   I got sick, I thought it was a stomach flu, but it lasted close to a week, yucky, and I ended up missing 2.5 days of work. I'm finally able to eat full meals and feel mostly like myself.   It's also bonus payday today, and they were very small. About half of "target" because the company didn't hit it's financial goals for the year. I use that money to pay the property taxes, so we're short by ~$500 now. Nex

Marketing class week 3

Here we go, week 3 starts today! I was so sick last week, I hardly ate and lost 3 pounds in 5 days, I'm too skinny to do that!   I'm feeling much better now and am ready to tackle week 3! Still counting down to the final day of July 14th, I will be off for 5 weeks then. Aahhh, bliss!

Treading water

I really feel stalled.   I know we're saving for the babies but I'm just feeling really stalled and like I'm not making the progress I wanted. Our food costs have skyrocketed and we're eating out more due to my pregnancy really. I have been making my weight gain targets only because of what we've been doing with our food. I have so few things I want to eat and so much makes me nauseous. I'm at 23 weeks right now, and have 7 weeks more before I'm out of the "high risk" category for twins. I

I guess I need this accountability again...week 2!

So, schoolwork. Blah. I've been sick since Thursday night with what I thought was a stomach flu, but since it's lasted so long I'm suspecting food poisoning. It's mostly cleared up now, but I'm definitely not 100% yet!   So...I'll be posting again on how I'm doing on my schoolwork. Right now I'm in week 2 out of 5.5 and behind because of this illness. This class isn't really extremely hard, just not interesting to me - it's marketing.   I'm working today (Sunday) on 2 assignments, then

Second Half of 2012 Goals

I am taking a cue from Zaga and setting some clear goals for us in the second half of 2012 so we don't just wander around aimlessly.   Goal #1- Get moved into the new house on Thursday with as small amount of stress as possible.   Goal #2-Get unpacked (and this includes everything by August 1st. While this seems like a long time to some, I still had a few boxes in this house that I just came across when we moved in 7 years ago. Don't want that to happen again. It was difficult to figure

Second Half of 2012 Goals Update

I know this is soon, but there's an update   1) Finish saving up for the back porch. We have $3,600 so far. $3,600 needed, so done!   2) Pay down the HEL like crazy! When the payment next week goes through this will be down to about $16K Continuing to pay $1,500 a month this will pay off next April-ish.   3) Continue getting good grades without stressing myself out. Just finished a class and started another this week. Grades are good and no stress in sight yet! This class wi

First time

My family had fallen off the wagon for the last year. After my husband's open heart surgery, we were treading water but not adding new debt. Paying monthly on all the medical bills but not much. 2 weeks ago, my husband got laid off. We immediately went into crisis mode and stopped all spending except necessary. Even after paying all bills, we still have money left over. Before, we would have eaten out or gone to a movie, but not now. We have not touched our savings yet, and all the bills inclu
