Default I would like to coordinate FPU

I apologize for starting another thread about this topic, but the other related threads have been closed.

If you are a previous FPU coordinator and would prefer to answer this question in private, please feel free to message me.

I would like to offer FPU for my community in the adult education program. Typically, instructors of these courses charge a fee for their class to cover supplies (if any) and their time.

Do FPU coordinators get the kits at a discount and then sell them to students for $99? Is there any profit margin? Will I end up paying out-of-pocket to facilitate an FPU after travel costs and 13 weeks of babysitting my babies?

I have other questions, but this is basically the first, more pressing one.

Again, if you would prefer to answer this question in private, please message me.

Thank you in advance!

This is public information, here's the order link. The $99, generally will cover shipping and you will have to buy the leader's kit at $299. They do run specials from time to time - like buy 10 kits, get one free or get the leader's kit free. So if you want to cover your expenses you would have to build it into your pricing structure, most churches are breaking even or subsidizing childcare and do this as a ministry.

YEEHEEEEE!
I just came back from meeting with the bishop in my church to introduce him to FPU and consider offering it to our congregation. I don't know what he'll decide, but I was just excited to talk with him about it! Gotta start somewhere!

I am attempting to coordinate one at my church. My plan is if I don't get 10 members, I will be paying OOP. If I do get 10 members, I will be sponsering a few that really need it (by recommendation of my priest)

Cost per member is $93, You could charge $100 to cover shipping. I will be paying for the shipping for our members.

I didn't realize that in the community program you could actually get paid for your time by the members. I plan to volunteer to bring it to my church.

I am also trying to coordinate free babysitting through volunteers at my church.

We are also looking into bringing this to our church and I would be interested in the answers you are given. Have you contacted Dave's site for bringing it to your community? We did that first to get some info and that day someone from his organization emailed me and then called and talked to me. Very helpful.....I am sure they could answer some of your questions too. I will pm you his contact info......

I initially did contact Dave's organization about bringing it to my community, then I had them transfer me to the Churches department. I found that it is cheaper to order the kits if going through a church, so I will start there so I can get a deal on the coordinator's kit. Later in the year, I will go ahead and also do one in the community and charge more.

I do have a question though. I was told the Military FPU differs a lot from the other programs. We live less than 2 miles from a small installation and are considering hosting one there eventually. How is the military FPU different?

The FPU Program really isn't different in regards to the information that is taught, but from my understanding there are specific Military Videos that have information Specific to the Military.

When Dave recorded the current FPU videos in July 2007 he recorded specific additions for the Military, Prison system, at work.

Well, dang it. The bishop loves the idea of FPU so he met with our stake president (who is over a dozen or so congregations/bishops in our area) and while they like the program, charging for it is in direct violation of international policy in regards to how our church buildings are used.

At least, now I know I need to get on the hunt for a location in our community and also plan on spending more for the kits. The bishop said he still wants to go through the course once we choose a place and dates. I will also go ahead and offer to teach a basic finances class for our congregation.

I'm so excited to move forward!

I'm just trying to make sure I understand - are you trying to figure out a way to make money by coordinating the course?
