Are the audio CDs the same as the DVDs, the same as the on-line course? We have no local real life courses and would have to fly a considerable distance to get to one.

We have access to the CDs, "FP", "FP PLanner", and "TMMO Workbook". Plus DR's website and radio show podcasts. We noticed in some of the CDs Dave refers to a workbook we don't seem to have... (for example, he mentions a list of potential money earning jobs which doesn't appear in either of the workbooks we have).

What component is different here? Small groups and counselors? Or are they also available through the on-line course? Do you have paper copies of forms etc. through the on-line course. Or is it all on-line?

We're trying to figure out whether to keep going with what we have, or break down and actually spend money for the on-line course. We also have someone else interested who would really like to know which route to take.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Jean

Jean:

If you have the current version of the FPU kit, the audio will match what is on the DVD's and the online content.

If you have the previous version of FPU, there won't be a 100% match, although the basic concepts are still presented in the same manner.

The on-line course has several pdfs you can print out for the workbook, as well as filling in the blanks on screen while you do the lesson.

In person, IRL - offers individual accountability within small groups that are usually created in FPU courses. Specific question and answering is also available (sites like this one are an alternative to get answers to questions).

CDs vs DVDs - are you a visual vs oral person? For me - it is not advantageous for the DVDs. For others it might be. One of the reason I prefer the CDs - listening to them in my vehicle's CD system (DVDs won't play).

To the above.

I have a copy of both. There are key points that I have missed just watching the DVDs. "Listening" to Dave explain something on the CD sometimes gets me to the root of what he is teaching. I may have seen the same point on video 4 or 5 times and then listened to the audio version and by listeneing closely caught something I missed in all the previous video screenings.

And sometimes I've listened to the CDs and missed where he was going, but seeing it gave me the key to the lesson.

There's value to both formats.

Actually to get the MOST out of the course, you need to read Financial Peace Revisited, and watch the DVD's and there is a good reason to listen to the CD's, in my opinion after watching the DVD's for the very reasons already given.

And of course if it possible to participate in a LIVE class in person, and this goes for most any course of this nature. The internet is great, but being directly involved with a group of REAL like minded, goal oriented people, well there is no real substitute.

The only way to do this in real life! DH and I had no debt other than our mortgage when we purchased the whole shebang. We watched 3 of the videos and then quit. Almost a year later the first FPU in our town was offered and we went to it. So, even though our financial house "was in order" we weren't gazelle enough to do the class on our own! LOL. Take all the help you can get, go to class!
