Well DW and I started our 11th FPU class on Sunday August 24, and one of the things we always do is go around the room allow every one to introduce themselves and what they want out of the class.
There are 18 couples/singles in this class, total of 34 people. And one guy that when we got to him said he worked for a law firm that handles people in dire stress with the IRS. And he has been hearing over the last couple years or so about Dave Ramsey his clients would say, Dave said to do this, or do that and he said he has heard this so much he wanted to come learn all about Dave Ramsey and his plan. This was a first for us.

It will be quite interesting to watch him for his facial expressions as this goes on.
An attorney can make anywhere from $35,000 - in excess of $500,000 a year depending on their specialty, size of firm, size of city, clientele, etc. You could get some mighty different answers from this guy then from your run of the mill participant.
Enjoy!

Interesting.
I haven't heard Dave recommend anything that should attract IRS attention or for that matter the attention of an attorney working with IRS cases. He doesn't advocate risky schemes to avoid taxes.
The worst he does is refer to the IRS as the KGB.
Despite what he personal feelings maybe, he's never articulated them nor does he suggest doing things contrary to the IRS code. I think he's wise enough not to tangle with the IRS.
I hope this new class member hasn't heard things out of context.

I imagine he's not heard things against the IRS or about trying to avoid paying taxes. My bet is that his firm works with people who haven't paid taxes because they don't have the money. These people might now be on the DR program in an effort to get their finances on the right track. I'd bet that is how he's been hearing about Dave. We had a woman in our FPU class that owed the IRS over $100k because her ex-dh had failed to file returns for "their" business and she was as responsible for them as he was. He had left her in financial ruin but dealing with the IRS was the most pressing issue. DR's plan was guiding her through this mess. I would think those are the people talking about Dave.

Yep this is exactly the case. Sorry if I didnt make that clear. We will see if he shows up for class on the 7th of September, our next class. (Taking this weekend off for Labor Day).
Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

He may be looking for a way to serve his clients better. Some (certainly not ALL) people get into IRS problems, through their own stupidity. While his firm may treat the symptoms of their problems, DR treats the disease.
This attorney may be able to recommend more people to future FPU classes. Marvelous!

Good take on his purpose for taking the class.

Well, its been 7 classes now and this person I spoke of in our class.
He has attended every class so far, come to find out, that his daughter and son in law are in our class as well, and he thought they needed to be in class more than him and as its turning out, he has said this is a wonderful class that everyone should take and he needed it just as much as they do.
He was only late for one class and was very apologetic for being late, we both told him we are happy he made it.
This is the time in class you really start to see people open up and you see the "gears" really turning in their heads and as one couple said, they finally have hope.
