View Full Version : Words well spoken of what WE want, but not willing to work for it

While reading about a situation at my Church, concerning a unrelated matter, the person that was working with this person made this obsovation and this is SO true in other areas of our lives, regardless if we are trying to loose weight, get a degree, over come a medical issue, keep our marriage together, get out of debt (and STAY out of debt), or a number of other things we try to achieve in our lives, these words below are not mine, but they really do speak out to all of us.

Keep in mind this is coming from a person that has a medical condition, but apply it to your condition that you might be facing now or facing in the future, it is a power thought...

.........Later I was having my quiet time and it hit me that so often we ask God to forgive us, heal us, or do something for us but we don’t want any strings attached. We don’t want to work for it, we just want it. We so often want to be loved but don’t always want to put out the effort to love others. How many times do we pass up an answer to prayer or a blessing because we were not willing to work for it?

This is so true. I find working on my finances makes me CONSCIOUSLY AWARE, just like I needed to be consciously aware of food intake if I want to stay healthy, etc... When I go unconscious - I get into trouble.

Absolutely! We know that the Gospel is one of grace, not works, and I think that sometimes we forget that God DOES want us to work- not for SALVATION, for that IS a free gift- but for growth, for building up our "inner selves". Even growing closer to Him takes "work"!

Thanks, Roy!
