Hello everyone, newbie here.
DH and I have read TMMO and really want to take FPU classes. We looked in our area and there were some churches offering the classes but they were at times we could attend, and now no one is offering new classes in our area.
I had sent away for the info for our church :prayer:to offer FPU. Our church recently moved, is doing a lot of renovation work and the pastoral staff seem to be dragging their feet to get the ball rolling to offer these classes. DH and I are SICK! We need this and we need it NOW! we are scared :scared: the longer we go the less motivated we will be to stay on target to get out of debt.
I've seen where some are doing FPU on their own, can someone tell me how to go about this? :noclue:Do I buy the FPU videos and workbooks? I've been on the DR website but there are so many FPU things offered I'm a little overwhelmed on what we need...

Can someone please point me in the right direction? :stupidsign:

They now offer FPU online. I haven't taken it online, so I'm not sure what it is like. Here is a link if you want to check it out:

Can someone please point me in the right direction? :stupidsign:Well, we were pretty much in the same boat as you. We wanted our church to offer it and they weren't "rolling" with it so to speak. So DH and I stepped up to the plate and we start leading our FPU at church this coming Sunday!!! I wanted it bad enough to decide to lead/facilitate it and overcome my fear of doing something like that!

Something you might want to consider!

I am sure that your pastoral staff are overwhelmed with all the renavation, thats a lot of work.

There is no better accountability and motivation than coordinating a FPU class, and not to mention rewarding. You both could be very blessed if you both stepped up and offered to coordinate this at your church. If you can run a DVD player, and get the conversations started (with help with the coordinator guide) you can coordinate a FPU class.

I say go for it!

we just filled out the form online, we've done the online class and it's great, but we feel we really need the in person accountability, discussion, etc. And when we looked there is no place within a 2 hour drive having the class, unless someone is and it's not listed (we are in pa by the way, near maryland if anyone knows any, near harrisburg)

Anyway, how long does it take to get it up and running once you hear back from the dave ramsey site? We are anxious to get started, I hate to wait until the fall to do it, I'd like to do a summer course if we could. We have our church which is fine with hosting it, they just don't have time to do the coordinating themselves.

sorry, hit the send button too quickly...I also wanted to know if you can host a small group in someone's home? We have several friends interested and we thought about doing that if we couldn't do the church one until the fall? Right now, we have about 10 couples interested, some from church, some from the neighborhood, we'd be happy to host in our home if that's an option?

And yes, you can do them in your home. 10 couples is a good start. We just started our group the past Sunday and we only have 8 couples and one single.
