Does the new DVD series have closed captioning? Someone asked about that after class tonight.
Our class coordinator was absent and I was doing good to get everything running, so I didn't notice if it's an option or how to set it up.
Thanks!

It has closed captioning, American Sign Language, and Dolby 5.1!!
When you first put in the DVD and the menu comes up, go to 'Set Up' and all the options are right there-on or off.

... American Sign Language....
Have you turned on the American Sign language? Watching that guy is hilarious, especially when Dave gets excited.

Do the settings have a non "wide screen" setting? We were watching it on a "regular" TV and it looked a little "smooshed" like it was really supposed to be playing on a wide screen TV! Do they look smooshed to you or is it just me?
Of course - it made Dave look skinny! Maybe that's exactly what he was going for!

Gretchen, the entire thing was recorded in the new HD Format that will be standard (officially) starting Feb 2009. That is a 16:9 aspect ratio, basically a rectangle.
Regular TV (The old NTSC standard that has been around since the 1940's) has a aspect ration of 4:3, meaning its basically a square.
If you leave it in the "letterbox" format (on a TV with a 4:3 ration screen) you seeing it as it was recorded, if you do anything else to it, you will be changing the original formating.
With that said, we have a a couple of projectors at our Church we use, that are of HD quality. And WOW, what a difference in quality from the "Classic" FPU DVD's.
Now the geek in me would like to see him release FPU on BlueRay Disk, so we can really see the quality that it was recorded. I am sure in a year or two they will do that, and I will really need to get a copy.

YES! Kim and I really enjoy ASL. Kim took it for 3 years at Stephen F. Austin. She still uses it, but I do enjoy watching it. Some of the signs they make are just common sense comparing them to the spoken word or what they represent. It's just enjoyable to watch!

I don't know if it helped me...Sure!!! Plus, with the beard you kinda look like Jesus! :bleh:
My husband made this comment one time that he wanted to have a "quarter-Jesus" and I was like HUH? He explained to me that he meant a beard and sort of long hair! (About 1/4 of the typical "Jesus" style! Who knows where he comes up with this stuff! His mind is strange sometimes!) Anyway - when I showed him my friend Jim on the video - he said... "Hey - he has a quarter-Jesus!" It made me laugh!
So now... he has the beard - but still has very short hair. (His hair doesn't grow long... it just grows BIG!) So I told him that he will just have to settle for a one-sixteenth Jesus!
