I originally took FPU in 2005. Now I'm a small group leader for FPU at my church. Have the workbooks/materials changed? Will I be ok using my old stuff? (Provided I can FIND my workbook! I've found the book.)
I do have a copy of the leaders guide with the questions in it. My FPU leader didn't use them, instead kind of asked if anyone had questions about last weeks homework, then asked if there were any questions about what was just seen on the DVD. We had a class of probably 40 and didn't break into smaller groups, so that might be a reason. Do you follow the leaders guide completely?
How do you encourage people to find accountability partners? It seems like it might take a while to figure out who you'd feel comfortable partnering with. Again, our class didn't really do that.
Thanks for helping, I'm sure I'll have more questions later!

Wow, didn't sound like you had a Coordinator that took the class very seriously.
You can get a PDF copy of the latest version of the Coordinators guide at the FPU Coordinators web site.
And yes there is a difference from 2005 to this years, I had a older Coordinators guide and everyone was getting confused when I told them to turn to so and so page and their books where some what different, not much but enough to confuse them.

I have the workbook in PDF that is currently being used. I don't know if it's too bid to email
Dave mentioned yesterday that the kits are being updated again, matter of fact, they had to rush a shipment of the existing kits to the Cincy event because they are draining their warehouse of existing inventory. Probably due to the new videos, but as of yet, I can't get an answer as to how much the change is going to be and if the new kits coordianate to the old videos and vice versa.

I do know you can either DL the new coordinator book or order a hard copy from the coordinator resource center. You could probably call your rep at Lampo to get one too.
Here's my email re: the new DVDs and the response I got:
I'd heard new DVDs are coming out sometime after the first of the year [which I think is what you confirmed to me].
The church was asking though - will we still be able to use the old DVDs? Will they be compatible with what I'm guessing will be reworked kits/workbooks to go with the new DVDs? Will someone who wants to come back need/prefer a new notebook? Etc. :) . We're talking to the powers that be at church about getting the new DVDs when they come out, but they want more info :) . Any idea or know who I could ask?
Response:
Ha-- wow. I do not know what will happen with the new DVD's. All I have been told is that our current churches will get them at a very discounted price. I think older workbooks will still be compatible but I will know more in the next couple months.
So... churches should be able to get the new ones fairly 'cheap'. I don't know what they cost new now as the church already had them when we started.
I guess more info is coming...

I should have been more clear. I have the current coordinator book, it's just that I took FPU in 2005 and have that FPU Revisited book and workbook. BTW, I was reading in the back of the FPU Revisited book and was surprised to see that they didn't revise Dave's biography info. It said he has been married to Sharon for 10 years! I know they've been married 25 now!
Now, if I could only FIND my workbook!

yeah -the old workbook works for now at least - just the page numbers are different. There should be a sheet in the coordinator book for both workbooks.

There seems to be another error. It also says that one of Sharon's favorite things to do is pay the monthly mortgage. Now if Dave has no credit score, that means he's been debt free for quite some time. The book was revised in I think 2002. It is too soon for the mortgage to drop from his credit score if they are paying a mortgage in 2002.

I can't really answer any of your questions, Pam, since we just started our first class that we're coordinating (and first we're attending too!)
But I'm interested to hear answers to the question about accountability partners. We threw it out there last week, but I didn't see anyone partnering up after class...I kinda din't expect anyone to at such an early point in the class, though. So I wonder what you seasoned coordinators have to say about this???
Thanks!
