My wife and I graduated from FPU a couple of weeks ago and will be coordinating our first class in August. Not only the first class we will be coordinating, but the first class to be held in the small town church.

We have two questions...

First, we plan on using the promo materials provided by Dave Ramsey, but does anyone have ideas that were really "hooked" some people?

Also, I'd like some ideas on how to make the classes a exciting, have more accountability, and generally encourage participation from the group.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

P.S. I'm the "nerd" and, as such, like to plan things!

Let me suggest two avenues.

1) The newspaper. Create a press release that has some of the results and topics covered. Many small town papers will look at those as a news story or filler.

2) If you have a local radio station, go on the air and offer your program.

Being in a class now and wishing for a bit more, I would suggest that you read the cool ideas at the end of the chapters and plan to implement. Don't ask the class if they want to do them - just plan to do them. If it really doesn't work, you can always stopping doing. Example - collecting all the offers of credit cards and loans during the 13 weeks. That's an easy thing, it costs nothing, people can do it, and it would be a cool thing to see how much you haven't accepted as debt.

We want to host a class as well but are struggling with how to do it. Childcare would be an issue for us and I bet for others. We'll just see how it goes. Right now we have enough to do.
