Hi All,
Please tell me all you can about becoming an FPU coordinator. We haven't been through FPU yet, but I'd really like to get it going at our church. I submitted my information online last night, but I'm a little impatient and thought I'd look to you all for insight on what to expect. Will I be able to facilitate well if I haven't gone through it yet myself? How many participants are ideal? How long did the setup process take until you started your first meeting?
Thanks in advance!

I have seen many people on this board and TMMO who have never been through the program and have facilitated a class. Dave teaches everything. You simply ask a series of questions from the coordinators manual and keep the conversation moving. You'll do fine.

Yep-what cjohnston4 said! My first (and only so far) FPU class was the one I coordinated. It was simply a blast, and I got to review all the material first.

I like the enthusiasm, you will be a good coordinator! Now if wish to speed things up, pick up the phone, call Dave's office, and ask for the FPU Church department and you will get some great people that will be eager to talk to you about you coordinating FPU at your church.
The number is 1-888-22-PEACE
Once you become a coordinator you will have access to the FPU Coordinators Resource center, a lot of good promotional materials you will find there, in the FPU Coordinator Center.
Also usually in November and in June the Church Department runs a special, like if you purchase 10 kits you get some free stuff, like a FPU coordinator kit (it has the DVD videos in it and other things), in the past we have gotten FREE FPU kits, free DVD players etc. Our Church is 100% behind FPU because they have seen the power of the program to change people life's.

So Jim, I think Brenham, NEEDS a FPU class with you and Kim leading it, and I bet the local radio stations would work with you to promote it.

Hey has anyone ever thought of paying for the best students kit? Like if they really get it and you can afford the $90, give it back to them at the end of the class? Some kind of unannounced bonus or something? Might be kinda cool to do that.

Dunno...most saved/paid off, best budget, most CC cut up...
It would be a tough call sometimes, would have to see each situation...just an idea.

I wouldn't call it the best student - sounds too much like PE when you weren't picked for the team. Maybe the Gazelle award for the most creative and successful debt reduction during the class. Just an idea - I like it too!

Go here for coordinator specific stuff: http://www.daveramsey.com/modules/fusetalk/index.cfm
You'll have to get a username and password, but it's great stuff in there.

Just as a follow up to what Jim said, once your logged in there is a link at the top, easy to over look, called Go To Resource Center Home. You will find a LOT of useful videos and materials to promote your class.

E-mail from my Adult Bible Fellowship leader: "I appreciate your willingness to teach this class. Think about where and when. The church is available. Also, how do people make up if they miss a session? Do you have any type of promotional materials?"
How do you like that!? It must be time for us to move again, LOL! The last two times we've moved were proceeded by my church wanting to get FPU!

The coordinator for this class gives out a tshirt each week. One week it was for the person who did their budget the soonest after that particular session, one week was for someone who could answer certain questions. Kinda stunk for us, since we took it before he disqualified us.
